    Some Shaped Vegetables....*

Different people have different opinion about these shaped vegetables but,What do u call this: New trend in farming OR disturbing/challenging nature???

    Buddha shaped Pear

Gao Xianzhang of China has managed to create what some would call the holiest fruits ever, pears shaped like Buddha.
Gao has been working on his pear-growing technique for six years and this season he managed to grow 10,000 Buddha-shaped baby pears. Each fruit is grown in an intricate Buddha mould and ends up looking like a juicy figurine. The ingenious farmer says the locals in his home village of Hexia, norther China, have been buying his Buddha pears as soon as he picks them from the trees. Most of them think they are cute and that they bring good luck.

Gao Xianzhang pears aren’t cheap, roughly $1.8 each, but their success in China convinced him to start exporting them into Europe.

    Cube-Shaped/Square Watermelon
First, let’s take a look at the original strange Japanese watermelon: “The Cube.”

    ****************

    Heart shped Water Melon

If the square watermelon concept still kind of blows your mind, this will straight explode it.
This is the invention of Hiroichi Kimura, a farmer from Kumamoto and his wife. They had tried three years and finally created this perfect heart-shaped fruit. They say this symbolizes their passion for farming and their affection for each other. The heart-shaped watermelon will be sold for 15,750 yen ($160) each. Wow!

    Pyramid and Triangle Shaped Watermelon

Now, here’s where I get a little confused. Let’s start with the Triangle shaped watermelon, because, apparently, there’s some sort of big difference between triangle and pyramid shapes. Aren’t they just different words for triangle?

These “triangle watermelon” will run you the same as a heart watermelon, around $237 USD. I’m not sure what the purpose of these watermelon are, besides the novelty. Square watermelons, sure, they ship nicer and are easier to put in the fridge. Triangle watermelon? They just seem hard to ship and hard to eat.

Now, how about the pyramid shaped ones? From what I can see, they are almost exactly the same. The only difference? The ridiculous price.

    Face Shaped Watermelon

Here’s the one that you all came for. This is the most ridiculous watermelon I’ve ever seen, and I would never be alone in a dark room with this one.

    And now presenting....

    HEART & STAR SHAPED CUCUMBER

As it turns out, they are grown by a co-op of nine women called Heartstick Ojaru in Chiba (a suburb of Tokyo) using plastic molds affixed to the stem of the plant, which create heart and star shapes visible when the cucumber is sliced cross-wise.

Compared to the square melons that made headlines a couple of years back, which were designed by vegetable growers to make melons easier to transport and stock, these creative cucumbers are representative of what appears to be a grass roots effort to make meal preparation a little bit more exciting for suburban housewives.

In addition to being more fun, they are also considerably cheaper. One cucumber runs only ¥105 (about 2-3 times the price of a normal one) and , as the product website demonstrates, the creative applications are endless.

In Japan, they called it Heart Stick.
