ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry reached Supreme Court to assume the charge of his his office.

Justice Iftikhar will hear cases in the courtroom 1 as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court after a gap of one year, four months and 21 days.

He will formally attend the first official ceremony as CJP to administer the oath to the new Chief Election Commissioner Justice Hamid Ali Mirza.

A large number of lawyers and the members of the civil society members warmly welcomed the Chief Justice when he entered in the premises of the apex court. Justice Shakirullah Jan and Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk were also accompanied with Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry.

The Chief Justice will formally attend the first official ceremony as CJP to administer the oath to the new Chief Election Commissioner Justice Hamid Ali Mirza.

The family members of the missing persons were present in a large number when Justice Iftikhar reached the apex court.The labourers working in the supreme court building respectfully stand when the CJP arrived and the radiance of happiness can be seen at their faces.

Stringent security measures were taken on return of the Chief Justice at the Supreme Court and heavy contingent of police were deployed at the premises.
