"Though it's difficult to establish their links with maoists, it is a fact that they had been in touch with them,'' said an officer.

Additional DGP K P Raghuvanshi, in charge of the ATS, said, "We found that Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Shrikant Purohit, who is accused of procuring RDX, had got it from Kashmir. He had stored the material at his house in Pune. The RDX was taken to the residence of another accused-Sudhakar Chaturvedi-in Deolali, where the bomb was made. "Purohit, Chaturvedi, Rakesh Dhawde, Sandeep Dange, Pravin Mutalik and Ramji, who are the key accused in the case, were present while the bomb was being made,'' said Raghuvanshi. "However, we do not know whether Purohit procured the RDX from the army. We have found its traces at Chaturvedi's residence.''

Dange, Mutalik and Ramji, who allegedly planted the bombs on a bike provided by sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur (3, are yet to be arrested.

"Purohit had told a witness that he had supplied the RDX in the Samjhauta blast case. However, we do not have any evidence yet,'' said Raghuvanshi. He added that the ATS had not got any evidence against the accused that could link them with the blast at Modasa in Gujarat on September 29, 2008. Terming the group as an organised crime syndicate, Raghuvanshi added that Rs 21 lakh were collected through Abhinav Bharat, an outfit floated by Purohit a few years ago. "Dhawde had organised a terror training camp in 2003,'' he said.
