Beauty is not always big eyes, skinny legs or fair complexion

"I came from Karachi to graduate from Kinnaird College, Lahore and luckily I got my name on the merit list too. But then I made a huge mistake. I fell in love with the wrong person. Sometimes, you do too much for people who deserve nothing and in the end they prove that you indeed made a mistake. Apparently, he loved me as long as I was fulfilling his demands.
I started feeling like I was nothing except someone to support him financially. I finally realized I should back off even though it was really hard for me. So I broke up with him. Sometime later while I was arriving from airport to my college, he, along with some of his friends, threw acid on my face. I couldn't believe how easily he decided to ruin my life. I had to quit my studies after getting my treatment. My mother couldn't bear what happened to me and passed away. I wanted to die. It was the worst possible thing that could happen to me.
I stopped feeling beautiful. I stopped hoping. Then came a wonderful opportunity in the shape of 'Depilex'. After so long, I felt beautiful from within when I was able to help the other victims working here at Depilex. I stopped judging people by their looks and started looking between the lines and learnt that beauty is not always big eyes, skinny legs or fair complexion. Sometimes, its just a word of kindness. A warm hug or a friendly smile.

I don't have any regrets from life because I know God is watching. He will make sure I get justice. Life is an echo. You get what you give. What you give will come back to you. Maybe not today, but eventually."

Inspirational Monica Singh: Acid Attack Victim To New York Fashionista

AN INDIAN student has realised her dreams of becoming a New York fashionista - despite being the victim of a horrific acid attack. Monica Singh, 28, had been top of her class when a jilted admirer organised for an entire bucket of acid to be thrown on her. The corrosive liquid burned through all seven layers of her skin and nearly killed her. But spurred on by her father - who spent his life savings on 46 corrective surgeries over the last 10 years - she has battled back to hit her goals. Last year she was accepted into the prestigious Parsons The New School For Design in Manhattan - where alumni include fashion icons like Tom Ford and Anna Sui. She now has hopes to become a famous fashion designer herself.
