PESHAWAR - A large number of people, including women and children, enjoyed various colourful programmes on the last day of the two-day summer festival at the Ladies Club in University Town on Sunday.
The festival was jointly organized by the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) and Deputy Commissioner Office Peshawar. Secretary Sports, Tourism, Culture, Archaeology, Museums and Youth Affairs Department Dr Aftab Akbar Durrani was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony. Besides scores of families and visitors, Additional Secretary Sports and Tourism Naeem Anwar Sadozai, Managing Director TCKP Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Khan Mehsud and Additional Deputy Commissioner Osama Waraich also attended the event. Music bands Raks e Bismal, Khalid Malik,Khumariyan and classic singer Nida Faiz mesmerized the audience with their melodious voice and performances. The troupes also presented traditional Mehsud, Khattak and Attan dances. Later, the families thronged the stalls presenting traditional food items. There were several stalls especially established for the children to get their beautiful faces painted with various colours. Quiz and magic shows were also part of the activities besides establishing a play land for the children and awarding prizes to them. We have arranged the first ever summer festival in a bid to provide an opportunity of entertainment to the Peshawarites, particularly the womenfolk and children, the secretary told the participants and families.
