SHAUKAT KHANUM HEADLINES : Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre opens its Walk-in Clinic in Multan
The fourth Walk-in Clinic of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) was inaugurated at Sher Shah Road in Multan on July 13, 2014. The Inauguration was followed by a fundraising iftar dinner with the donors and supporters of Multan at the Ramada Hotel.
On the occasion, Dr. Aasim Yousaf, Medical Director, SKMCH&RC shared the benefits of having the Walk-in Clinic Multan . He said that the clinic would provide free consultation services to help in the early detection of cancer. Patients who were accepted from the Walk-in Clinic would be referred to the Hospital in Lahore for treatment. Establishment of the Walk-in Clinic will not only serve the people of Multan but will also serve the entire region of southern Punjab and Balochistan.
Dr. Aasim added that thousands of cancer patients have been treated in the Shaukat Khanum Hospital Lahore and more than 15 billion rupees have been spent in providing treatment to poor cancer patients since its inception. He said there was a need for 20 more big hospitals for the treatment of all cancer patients across Pakistan as every year 150,000 people were being diagnosed with cancer patients. Dr. Aasim further said that the civil work on the construction of Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Peshawar continues apace. This year, the Hospital requires 3.6 billion rupees to continue with the mission to serve the poor. He urged the people to give Zakat and donations and help save precious lives. He also thanked the donors who supported the Hospital in setting up the facility in Multan. Renowned TV artist and director, Sarmad Khoosat was the master of the ceremony while artist famous TV and film artist, Javed Sheikh was also present.
