What are they?
Post acne marks form as a result of the depth of an inflamed acne.
Why and how do they form?
After your pimples (the red inflamed ones) heal, your skin's natural repairing process produces more melanin pigment that will eventually result in darker skin color in that area. Also, sun's harmful UV rays can add more harm since the 'healing part' of the face is fragile and susceptible to UV rays.
How do I treat them externally?
Step 1. Reduce the process of making more melanin - By using de-pigmentation creams:
De-pigmentation creams stop the production of excess melanin and also reduce the already formed dark spots. Buy creams that have ingredients like Arbutin, Kojic Acid and Licorice.
One such effective cream: Fabindia de-pigmentation cream (I have personally used this and my scars have completely faded away in one month). Definitely worth a try!
Step 2. Reduce sun damage:
Always use a sunscreen with SPF 30 at least twice a day if you have brown acne spots or any hyper pigmentation.
Step 3. Go the natural way:
Take a pinch of Multani mitti and turmeric. Mix them well with few drops of milk (and rosewater if you have) and dab it on the affected areas before bed time. It acts as a natural exfoliator and it gradually fades away the marks in a month. Repeat it 3-4 times a week.
REMEMBER, use all the three steps to reduce your scars quickly!
