Yunak Evleri HotelAnd what a view - we had a room at the top of the hotel complex with a view to die for. Accommodation was above reproach and warm - especially when the snow was falling. As it was winter we did not have the pleasure of sitting outside soaking in the atmosphere and that is something we hope to correct in the future. Urgup and Goreme were such a surprise - we fell in love other area and will definitely re-visit.
This cave hotel is a unique setting with luxury rooms carved out of rock caves dating back to the 5th and 6th centuries. It is a peaceful, central place to explore Cappadocia. There are great, unobstructed views from the private patio. My husband and I were there while it snowed and it was a bit cold, the staff set up wood in the fireplace so we could light fires, enjoy the view and relax in the patio adjacent to our suite. The rooms are beautifully decorated with rich local rugs and textiles; the bathroom was white marble with a jetted tub.
When we arrived we were welcomed with our choice of drinks and upgraded without charge to a beautiful suite by the Visitor Services Manager who made sure we had information about what to see in Cappadocia without a guide. The whole staff including the housekeepers, servers, and bellmen made you feel welcome.
We stayed here recently and had a wonderful time. The staff and service was excellent, so was the breakfast, and the room.
The breakfast is traditional Turkish - bread, different types of fresh cheese, assortment of jams, olives, turkish tea, coffee, eggs, yogurt, cereal, tomatoes, cucumber. The breakfast was very fresh and we enjoyed it.
The room we stayed in was quite large and so were the bathrooms. The shower was very spacious. The room, the linens and the bathrooms were very clean. The room also had a sitting area with a divan, which was very convenient to sit and chat as a family before going to bed.
No TV (we don't watch TV anyway), but the wireless in the room was quite fast (note this was off-season, so not sure how good it is in peak season).
Only issue was that the cleaning people would turn up the heat quite a bit and we ended up opening the window to cool the room down.
It is a 5-min walk to Urgup town where there are a bunch of restaurants and shops.
Overall, we had a great time, and we would certainly recommend it.
