Since June 28, 2007, Bordeaux is registered in UNESCO World Heritage under exceptional urban dEnsemble. The classified area of 1810 ha setEnd, making the first urban Bordeaux distinguished on a scope as large and complex.

The Port of the Moon is the name colloquially given to the port of Bordeaux , because a large crescent-shaped meander that describes the Garonne as it passes through the city. This is the origin of the crescent moon which appears at the bottom of the coat of arms of the city.
