James Brereton is a specialist in marine paint. His paintings show meticulous attention to detail in his description of the yachts and boats alongside beautiful seascapes and sunsets. James Brereton was born in Derby, England and studied at the Joseph Wright of Derby. He decided to concentrate on painting the sea at a young age, becoming a professional artist in 1979. Their main influences are Thomas Somerscales, Montague Dawson and Charles Dixon. He has exhibited widely in England, including the Royal Society of Marine Artists in London. His works are illustrated in the book by Denys Brook-Hart in Twentieth Century Marine Coatings.
