    There is a way, but you will need to download a software to edit you registry e.g. Registry Workshop.

    P.S. Sorry I don't have the software.

    suspected virus

    Dear Sanny 123

    Yes it may be a trojan / malware which is undetected by Norton AV.
    Well I suggest that, you first open the task manager, using CTRL+ALT+DEL and check for any unnecessary tasks being performed which are not recognized by you, and if you are not able to open the task manager, or you recieve the same reply that the task manager is disabled (which I suspect you will get) i suggest rather than risking a registry change, as an administrator you can enable or disable Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP Pro's TaskManager using Group Policy Editor. This can be applied to the local policy.

    * Click Start
    * Click Run
    * Enter gpedit.msc in the Open box and click OK
    * In the Group Policy settings window
    o Select User Configuration
    o Select Administrative Templates
    o Select System
    o Select Ctrl+Alt+Delete options
    o Select Remove Task Manager
    o Double-click the Remove Task Manager option

    And as I mentioned above, since the policy is Remove Task Manager, by disabling the policy, you are enabling the Task Manager.

    After enabling the TM, try to check the unwanted processes, and kill them.
    Than disable system restore option, by right clicking my computer, system restore, and check "turn off system restore on all drives.
    After this boot into safe mode, and than perform a complete virus scan. You will be able to have the computer cleaned.
    Furthermore, download any Antispyware e.g:SPYBOT and install it.
