Shortly after graduating, a veterinary surgeon was taken to see a horse that had reared up and flipped over in its trailer. She was accompanied on this journey by her mother, an animal lover herself. Fortunately, the horse was not seriously injured, but some wounds needed stitching.
As the vet worked, she heard her mother chatting with the worried owner. “Don’t worry, sir,” she said. “My daughter’s a great vet. She’ll fix your horse just fine.”
“That’s good to hear,” said the man. “How long has she been a vet?”
“A week,” replied the mother, proudly, then hastily added, “But she’s been embroidering since she was eight years old.”
