We know that you can place up to 8 queens on a chessboard with no other pieces in such a fashion that no queen can be taken.

We also know that you can place 32 knights on the board in such a fashion that none can be taken.

Do you know how many bishops you can place on a standard 8x8 chessboard so that no piece can be taken?

What is their placement?

For e.g - d1, a2 etc...

5.e1
6.f1
7.g1
8.h1
9. b8
10. c8
11. d8
12. e8
13. f8
14. g8

There is also another way but still there are 14 bishops........

so 14 bishops is the answer
