ISLAMABAD: The nation on Thursday celebrated 11th Youm-e-Takbeer with national fervour and great enthusiasm. The day is observed every year on May 28 with great passion to remember the historic nuclear tests conducted by the country in 1998 in response to Indian explosions that made Pakistan the seventh nuclear nation of the world and first Islamic state equipped with nuclear arsenal.

In this connection functions and seminars were held all over the country to pay tributes to all those who made relentless efforts in making Pakistanís defence impregnable by equipping it with nukes.

Speakers, at the seminars and gatherings while highlighting the achievements, said nuclear detonations proved to the world that Pakistan was fully capable to defend its sovereignty and security.

They said the nation would always remember the services of the politicians, scientists and army officers who worked for materialising the dream of making Pakistan an atomic power.

They mentioned the initiative of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who took the farsighted decision to make Pakistan a nuclear power. They said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto proved that he wanted to achieve an honourable and dignified status for Pakistan in the comity of nations.

They said the nation was proud at the services of hundreds of engineers and eminent scientists, who through their untiring efforts, made the Pakistanís defence invincible.

They said by conducting nuclear tests despite huge pressure from the international community, the Pakistani nation proved that they were determined and practical people and no force can deter them from heading towards their targets.
