View Full Version : 34 new A/H1N1 flu cases confirmed in Europe

A total of 34 new A/H1N1 flu cases were reported in European countries within the last 24 hours, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said on Thursday.
Most of the new cases, 19 of 34, were confirmed in Britain, and the other new cases were reported respectively from Spain, Germany, Italy, Romania, Sweden and Slovakia, the ECDC said in its daily situation report.
The cumulative number of confirmed cases of the A/H1N1 flu virus in the EU (European Union) and EFTA (European Free Trade Association) countries increased to 456, with 203 cases in Britain, 143 in Spain, 26 in Italy, 20 in France and 19 in Germany, the ECDC said.
Fifteen of the 19 newly confirmed cases in Britain were related to in-country transmission and the total number of cases with in-country transmission rose to 200 in the region, the ECDC added.
Up to now, 21 EU and EFTA countries have reported the A/H1N1 flu cases, including Slovakia which confirmed its first case, the ECDC said.
The ECDC publishes a daily situation report about A/H1N1 flu cases in the EU and EFTA countries based on official information from these countries.
