About Hindi

Hindi is the official language of India and spoken by approx. 240-500 Million people as their first language and more than 120 Million people as their second language. It is widely believed that Hindi evolved out of Sanskrit. Standard Hindi is written in Devanagari and draws its words from (Indo-Aryan) Sanskrit.

Focus of the Program

All important aspects of language learning, namely listening, reading, writing and speaking are covered within the program. The audio-visual feature of the program also supports the learning success to a great extend as every word and sentence of the program is visualised. Great emphasis has been put on a clear and easy to understand design of the program so that your focus is not on how to operate a software but purely on learning a new language quickly.

Content of the Software Package

Besides the downloadable software, the product also contains files for printing out all words of the program as vocabulary cards in the target language with translations on the backside for English. This is very helpful if you like to learn without the computer -especially when on the road. The learning-cards are sorted according to the lessons in the program and thus allowing a targeted and focused way of repeating the current lesson.
Furthermore you will find a text book with all sentences of the 30 lessons as file. This gives you the ability to train your reading skills aligned with the lessons of the language software.
All these documents are available as pdf file which can be easily printed-out and worked with.

Operating Systems

As JAVA has been used as the programming language, the software works on Windows, Linux and Mac OS computers with a soundcard and a minimum graphic solution of 1024*768. Therefore it can run on most of the desktop computers today. You need to have the java runtime environment installed which is available from www.java.com. The program needs approximately 80MB of harddrive space.
Java is a trademark of Sun Microsystems, Inc.
